Barium Sulfate BaSO4

Barium Sulfate BaSO4

Description

Barium Sulfate (chemical formula: BaSO₄) is a white inorganic crystalline powder that occurs naturally in barite. It features a high specific gravity (approximately 4.3 to 4.7), low solubility and good chemical inertness. Because it is insoluble in water, acids, alkalis and ethanol, as well as its heat resistance and non-toxic nature, barium sulfate is widely utilized across a variety of industrial applications. Our AB series - precipitated (modified) barium sulfate is produced using the sulfuric acid process technology. Its performance indicators, including free barium, odor (residual sulfur ions), impurities, black spots and whiteness are superior to those of barium sulfate produced by mirabilite method (Glauber's salt process). It is one of the highest-grade precipitated barium sulfates on the market at present.

Features

Narrow particle size distribution, with a smaller specific surface area and lower base material consumption. When blended with titanium dioxide (TiO₂), it enhances the effectiveness of the titanium dioxide, thus reducing its usage.

High chemical inertness, resistant to acids and alkalis, with excellent light and weather resistance. It also exhibits high thermal conductivity and rheological properties, which help shorten the material's plasticizing and molding cycle.

High activation degree and good compatibility with the matrix, resulting in a tight bond that improves the rigidity, hardness, and impact strength of the modified material.

The product has high purity with minimal impurities, free from harmful substances to plastics. It complies with RoHS and PAHs regulations and meets EU REACH testing standards.

Applications

Printing and coating

Plastic and rubber fillers

Flame retardant materials, X-ray shielding wall materials, battery cathode materials, surface coatings for photographic paper and copperplate paper, sizing agents for the textile industry, raw materials for ceramics and glass, as well as clarifying agents for glass products, which also act as defoaming agents and enhance gloss.
