Description
Magnesium hydroxide powder is a white, fine, and non-toxic inorganic compound with a relative density of 2.36 and a decomposition temperature of around 340°C. It is nearly insoluble in water and organic solvents, but readily dissolves in acids. After decomposition, it forms magnesium oxide without generating toxic gases, making it especially suitable for halogen-free and environmentally friendly flame-retardant applications.
Customized product supply
✔ Surface Treatment: We offer surface-treated, modified magnesium hydroxide customized to meet specific customer requirements. This treated product improves flowability while enhancing the physical properties and toughness of the final product.
✔ Powder Granulation: 100% carrier-free magnesium hydroxide masterbatch. It enables easier processing and feeding in engineering plastics, with no dust contamination.
✔ Pre-mixed Granulation: Magnesium hydroxide powder (80%) combined with 20% PP or PE carrier to form magnesium hydroxide masterbatch. It offers easy processing and feeding with no dust issues. In compounding and pelletizing, this solution boosts production capacity by over 30%, reduces equipment wear, and significantly improves overall manufacturing efficiency.
Applications
✔ To achieve satisfactory mechanical and flame retardant properties in products with a high Mg(OH)2 content, Mg(OH)2 must be evenly dispersed within the product. Therefore, it is recommended to use a twin-screw compounding extruder and an appropriate Mg(OH)2 feeding method.
✔ When using Mg(OH)2 as the only flame retardant formulation for various rubber products, a filling amount of more than 60% by weight of Mg(OH)2 is required to achieve a UL94 V-0 flame retardant rating. However, if Mg(OH)2 is used solely for smoke suppression, the required amount can be lower.
✔ Our products are widely used in low-smoke, halogen-free copper-clad laminates/laminated boards, including FR-4, CEM-3, CEM-1, and other types.
