Description
Light Magnesium Carbonate is a white, loose powder produced from dolomite through a carbonation process. It is odorless and tasteless, with a relative density of approximately 2.2 and a decomposition point of around 350°C. It exhibits good stability when exposed to air. When heated above 300°C, light magnesium carbonate decomposes, releasing water and carbon dioxide to form magnesium oxide (MgO). At around 700°C, it releases additional carbon dioxide, resulting in the formation of high-purity magnesium oxide. This product is virtually insoluble in water, but produces a mildly alkaline reaction when dispersed. It is also insoluble in ethanol and readily decomposes in dilute acids, releasing carbon dioxide gas bubbles.
